PROJECT /// A GOOD CAUSE
I was asked to lend my design skills towards a good cause, to brand a community of "women helping women" in leadership, for women at Fox Studios. The catch, it was a competition, whereby the community would vote for their favorite design that best represented the cause.
CREATIVE DIRECTION + DESIGN | PAULA NEWSTAT
SCOPE | BRANDING, STYLE GUIDE, EVENT COLLATERAL, POSTER DESIGN
OBSTACLES |
/// SUBJECTIVE OPINION WOULD SELECT WINNER.
/// THE UNKNOWN.
/// ENCOMPASSING ALL WOMEN.
/// VISION
To be sensitive to the community of women who have come from different walks of life, who are at different stages in their professional careers. Who would be proud to be apart of a community represented by an identity branding mark. To fit within the Fox family.
/// BACKGROUND
TAG LINE | FOSTERING A CULTURE WHERE ALL WOMEN THRIVE.
Women at Fox was founded by a group of women who thought that it was important to include the entire female collective at Fox Studios, to form a community of support. Quickly by word of mouth and ground roots marketing, all the Fox ladies were joining the team.
They reached out for people to design and brand the community, to be announced and represented at a launch event for Women at Fox. My branding was one of 20 submissions, over 500 people voted and my logo overwhelmingly got over 80% of the votes.
It was humbling and amazing, that my design skills could be lent towards a great cause.
/// BRANDING EXPLORATION
Branding always starts in sketch and brainstorm form
using pencil & Adobe Illustrator as my rough sketch canvas.
A sample selection of explore is shown.
/// FINAL BRANDING
After an anonymous voting and designer competition, using an online data system, The results were in and the branding identity I submitted, was overwhelmingly the winner.
RESPONSE
/// Excitement and inclusiveness of belonging to a community of support, specifically for women.
/// Tangible items beloved from launch event, people were posting on social media about the event, with the branding, and placing W@F stickers on their office doors.
/// The branding was loved, so I was asked to design a custom poster, to be hung on the Fox Lot with other studio posters.
OUTCOME
/// Launch event was a huge success, all departments and women of all career levels joined together with some men in support of this amazing feat of bringing the entire studio together, supporting female empowerment.
/// Inspired women to talk to one another and help mentor leadership and growth.
/// W@F continues to hold events for its members, anything from gatherings to guest speakers, fundraisers and more.
